<body> Control

I was trying to come up with a catchy name for my site and this popped into my head while watching Olympic Tumbling on YouTube (yeah, weird). It's PERFECT. If you don't know <body> is an HTML tag. It normally contains all elements you can see within a webpage. Being that I'm a UI/UX Developer the name fits the bill.

At fist I planned on creating a pretty standard/bland page (just a place to put my CV). "But then one day" while coding, the Tron soundtrack came on and it dawned on me, "Why don't I make the site resemble the command prompt Sam used during the arcade basement scene of Tron: Legacy".

So here we are. Version 1.0. Simple and plain yet different and a bit weird. Just how I wanted it.

Vision (Mission)

I like to think of my dreams as missions and not the unattainable dreams we at times fascinate ourselves with. What I always wanted was to be able to make a living doing what I love to do and I'm blessed to be doing just that. My current mission is to continue down this path further bettering myself each day.

I do however have aspirations that transcend my career as a web developer for firms and agencies. I hope to one day open a studio. Where we can set our own schedules and make work as FUN as humanly possible.

One other important aspiration of mine is setting up an efficient and positive mentor program with High Schools in and around wherever the studio ends up being located. I think we can all agree that at some point in our lives we could use some guidance regarding our careers and what we want to do with ourselves. I would like to make impression in young adults' minds and show those that are interested what some aspects of Computer Science are about.

Inspiration

Personally I draw inspiration from many things. At the most basic level what drives me is a refusal to fail my family. Aside from that the fact my family comes from EXTREMELY humble beginnings (farmers from Dominican Republic), my own drive as an individual and teachings/lessons I learned while serving in the U.S. Navy.

Professionally I draw inspiration from a few individuals and my coworkers. Namely Jeffrey Zeldman, Ethan Marcotte and Eric Meyer. I read anything they write and follow it religiously. Of course I have my own opinion on things but their advice is quite often the ideal path to follow.
